Goon Surf

Foundation preview 0.1.1. A licensed Hello World extension for LibreWolf. Linux is the first test platform; Windows and macOS are not yet validated.

Before installing

This proprietary extension is distributed directly, without Mozilla signing or store review. You need an existing LibreWolf installation and a Goon Surf license file. Download only from our domains.

  1. Open about:profiles in LibreWolf and create a separate profile. Choose any name you like. Do not copy your personal profile or credentials.
  2. Launch that profile. In its about:config, set xpinstall.signatures.required to false. This permits unsigned extensions throughout this profile, not only Goon Surf. Leave other profiles unchanged.
  3. Download Goon Surf 0.1.1 (.xpi). Accept the normal browser installation prompt. If it downloads as a file, open about:addons, select the gear menu, then Install Add-on From File.
  4. Open Goon Surf from the extensions menu and import your .lic file. Click Say hello.

Choose a profile at startup

Fully quit LibreWolf. Open its Profile Manager (librewolf -P on a native Linux installation), and uncheck Use the selected profile without asking at startup. Thereafter, use your normal LibreWolf icon. No extra launcher is needed.

This changes startup behavior for your LibreWolf user account. It applies to a fresh browser start; opening a link while the browser is running may reuse its current profile. Names are yours to choose and can be changed later.

Updates and recovery

LibreWolf checks our HTTPS update feed through its normal Add-ons Manager. You can use its Check for Updates action. Keep the same extension installed to preserve its local settings and license. An unsuccessful update should leave the existing version available; please report failures rather than deleting your profile.

Privacy and licensing

License verification is local. The extension does not upload your license, collect browsing history, inject code into websites, or send telemetry. Update requests reach our server and may be recorded in ordinary server logs. This preview does not enforce online revocation, device counts, or protection against system-clock changes.

Remove the extension through about:addons. Uninstalling can remove extension data; keep your original license file. No browser profile is deleted. After removing all unsigned extensions from this profile, you can restore signature enforcement.

Source and releases are proprietary; downloading does not grant redistribution rights. This preview proves distribution and licensing, not the final product feature set.
